To be more specific, their fatty acid levels were almost 30% higher than the individuals who got 8 hours of sleep every night.
This leads to another problem since the increase in the fatty acid levels can cause insulin resistance and eventually it can all lead to diabetes.
The cardiovascular disease has many times been linked to poor sleep. However a recent research provided even more evidence of the correlation between these two. They followed 650 russion men who had an age of 14-25-64 years. The research has shown that 2/3 of the men who suffered heart attack have had a sleep disorder and irregular sleep patterns.
What is even more intriguing is the fact that the men, who complained of heart attack, had 2.5 times higher risk of myocardial infraction and a 1.6 higher risk of suffering a stroke.
