There is no person in this world that doesn’t love popcorn. It’s the perfect movie snack, and besides it’s delicious, it provides numerous benefits for your health.
Popcorn, in fact, contain great number of nutrients that are of essential importance. At the same time, these nutrients can prevent a lot of health problems and improve your health in general.
Actually, popcorn has high content of fiber that boost metabolism and improve the digestive system, resulting in weight loss.
On the other side, popcorn slows down the aging process thanks to the great number of antioxidants that fight against the free radicals within the body. If consumed moderately, popcorn will improve the overall health because it’s definitely the healthiest snack.
However, be aware of the fact that the popcorn you consume is made of organic corn and has a small amount of salt and oil. Microwave popcorn and the popcorn sold at the movie theaters contain great number of harmful additives that might be dangerous for your health.
When you are not sure about the corn quality, always ask for the price – usually, the organic corn is more expensive.
- ¼ cup of canola or coconut oil
- 2/3 cup of popcorn kernels
- 3 tbsp. of melted butter
- 2 tbsp. of honey
- 1 ½ tsp. of sea salt
Take one large pot and add 1/3 of the popcorn kernels and the coconut oil in it. Cover the pot and cook at medium heat until the kernels start to pop. Then, take the kernels out of the pot and add the add the remaining part of the popcorn kernels. Cover the pot once again and take it off from the heat.
After 30 seconds, return the pot on the heat. Cook with shaking the pot occasionally as soon as the popping starts to slow down. While the popcorn is popping, add the melted butter and the honey. Pour it over the popcorn and then sprinkle some sea salt. After 2 minutes, take off the lid of the pot and let the steam get out. You can do this in a big paper bag, as well.
