An interesting discovery claims that if potatoes are cooked for 8 minutes straight, they can be turned into a battery which produces 10 times more energy than raw potatoes.
Haim Rabinovitch is a professor of agriculture and science that found out that if you use certain units made of quarter potato slices, and you locate them between the copper cathode and zinc anode, you can light up the room for 40 days.
This discovery can make a huge change in the underdeveloped parts of the world. But the question is, why potatoes?
The answer is simple…
- The world has an almost endless quantity of potatoes
- Potatoes can be grown almost everywhere (including tropical and subtropical climate)
It is important to remember that potatoes are not a source of energy. However it can act as a connection between the metals by allowing the electrons to go freely in the wire, thus helping the production of electricity.
